The history of Calon...

Calon was founded in 1997 as a technology consultancy firm, developing open control products for others and providing specialist controls consultancy and troubleshooting services.

By 2001, Calon started to develop its own product range and it was in this year that Calon saw its first involvement in lighting controls, with the roll out of a system of a remotely-managed lighting control system to over 600 filling stations and convenience stores in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe, believed to be a first for an IP-based managed lighting solution.

In 2003 Calon launched their first-generation lighting controls, consisting of a range of DIN rail mounted control modules covering common lighting control requirements.  Over the next two years, the range was extended and further developed to include networked LCM solutions for lighting and room control under the InfraLIGHT brand,  successfully launched at Light+Building in 2006.

Since 2010, all new products have been based on an advanced 32-bit ARM platform, providing greater performance and flexibility and allowing Calon to offer a flexible range of communications options including LonWorks, ModBus, BACnet, DALI and Web Services.

In 2012, the company moved to its current location in Manor Park, Runcorn, conveniently located for the M56, M6 and M62 motorways and close to the cities of Liverpool, Manchester and Chester.

2016 has also been an exciting year for Calon with the introduction of two new product lines, SmartSensor™ and SmartBridge™, along with the recruitment of new employees.

In January of 2017, Calon will celebrate its 20th birthday as a well established lighting controls specialist.
